3.1. Information you provide to us.

Information that is necessary for the use of the HostSity Platform

We request and collect the following personal information about you when you use the HostSity Platform. This information is necessary for the proper performance of the contractual agreement that exists between you and us and to enable us to comply with our legal obligations. Failure to provide any of this data or a decision to delete or oppose the processing of any of such data may result in the deactivation of your HostSity account.

  • Account registration information.  When you register with HostSity, we ask you to provide minimal information: email address and password. In some particular cases, we ask you to provide more information, such as your first and last name, identity verification, contact details. Such information is required when you apply for domain name registration and is indicated as WHOIS information.
  • Identity verification.  In order to comply with the rules established by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (" ICANN ") prior to the registration of the new domain name, HostSity may collect identity verification information (such as images of your passport, identification card national, license or other documents required or permitted by applicable laws).
  • Payment information.  To request and use features of the HostSity Platform (such as web hosting, domain name registration), we may require you to provide certain financial information to facilitate payment processing. We use third party services (payment processor), so we do not collect or store credit card information (we receive payment status information and store only the last 4 digits of the credit card).
  • Communications, Chats, Messaging.  When you communicate with HostSity (using the general inquiries window), we collect information about your communication and any information you choose to provide or disclose. To respond to your request, we may access information provided on your HostSity account, purchase history, etc.
  • Visitors and users of our User's websites or services.  We may also collect information regarding visitors to and users of our Users' websites or services ("Users-of-Users"), solely for and on behalf of our Users.

You may also choose to provide us with information when you fill out a form, perform a search, update or add information to your HostSity account, respond to surveys, post to community forums, participate in promotions, or use other features of the HostSity platform. We discourage you from posting any information you do not wish to make public on the HostSity Platform. HostSity processes the information you provide to us on the  legal basis  of:

  • Log data and device information.  We automatically collect log data and device information when you access and use the HostSity Platform, even if you have not created a HostSity account or logged in.   • Forum posts or other publicly viewable information may continue to be publicly available on the HostSity Platform, even after your HostSity Account is deactivated. However, the attribution of such information to you will be removed. Additionally, some copies of your information (eg, logs) may remain in our database, but are de-identified from personal identifiers;
  • to resolve disputes;
  • to enforce our agreements and/or pursue or protect our legitimate interests;
  • Because we protect the HostSity platform from accidental or malicious loss and destruction, residual copies of your personal information may not be removed from our backup systems for a limited period of time;
